The night of our engagement I had gotten the ring from the Mall and called her Dad on the phone to ask his permission. I gained his blessing to ask Bailey to Marry me and looking back I wish I had asked her Mom as well as she was kind of upset that I hadn't.
Anyway, I tuck the ring in my pocket and through out the evening she keeps trying to put her hand in my pocket, she says it was just because she wanted to be close, but I have always thought it was because she knew something was in there. We get through the meal at one of our favorite places (Los Cabos) and I ask her to go for a walk with me along the Riverwalk. I was going to ask as soon as we were at a bench and had some privacy, but the first 3 or 4 were taken and people kept walking by making it difficult. We finally got to a bench that was empy and I asked her to sit and relax a moment. I then got down on one knee at her feet and fumbled to get the ring out of my pocket, while she is kind of giggling and laughing at the same time. She kept asking, "What are you doing!?!"
Well at this point I manage to get the ring case from my pocket and she keeps trying to get me up off my knee and while I am still down there I manage the courage to ask her if she will be my wife. She said yes (much to my surprise) and yanked me up to the bench and gave me a wonderful kiss.
I was so nervous at dinner thinking what how I would ask and what if she said no and any other thing that might go wrong. When she said yes to me it was the best day of my life. The only ones that might rank up with it are when she becomes my wife and if/when we have kids. I love her dearly and hope to be worthy of her, for I know she is a gift from God and I just hope I can show her how much I love her.
